More true today than ever before! It all comes down to putting buyers and sellers together. That's the main purpose of this website. Nobody knows your boat better than you. Who better to represent it than yourself. Most buyers I know would prefer to deal with the boat owner. Buyers know that a broker has to make money so up goes the price. By keeping the sales process down to just buyers and sellers you both save money. All we do is offer a website to help bring boat buyers and boat sellers together along with some advice that has worked for me over the years. If you're like me you probably find yourself frustrated and angry with most of the service you get from the so called experts you hire. I don't consider myself incredibly demanding. I just expect reasonable competence and a good attitude. Yet, 8 times out of 10 I'm disappointed. I could go on and on about it.....so could you. As consumers we have endless opportunities to waste our hard earned money. I myself hate to waste money. Yet, I love boats. So if you want to own a boat and keep it reasonably affordable, plan on doing most of it yourself. Otherwise plan on spending lots of money. Either way boats are a great way to reward yourself. A way to escape for a little while....a little margaritaville in our lives sort of speak.
I think most boaters have a self sufficient do it yourself attitude. Its something learned by necessity. When out on the water you need to be able to take care of yourself. Yet we live in a world where many people today make a good living by staying focused on one thing and doing it well. If you find yourself in that situation you may be better off hiring a broker. It all comes down to if you want someone else to do it, you can find that help and pay for it. Some are good some not so good. Regardless if you liked the job they did or not your going to pay for it . After all its a contract you signed. So your choices are do it yourself or pay someone else to do it and hope for the best.
